TECH-FAB Europe welcomes Commission’s decision to extend anti-dumping duty on Chinese open mesh glass fibre fabrics

TECH-FAB Europe, the association of European technical textiles producers, welcomes the European Commission’s decision to extend the anti-dumping duties currently in force on imports of certain open mesh glass fibre fabrics originating from China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan and Thailand for five more years.

Following an expiry review, the Commission concluded that the expiry of the measures would be likely to result in the continuation and/or recurrence of dumping and injury to the EU industry, and its decision was published as Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/357 (January 2024).

“We commend the Commission’s decision to extend these anti-dumping measures and support the growth of our European open mesh fabric industry and its contribution to EU sustainability targets,” states Raphaël Pleynet, Secretary General of TECH-FAB Europe. “We greatly appreciate these actions and will continue to work closely with the Commission to ensure level playing field conditions.”

Open mesh fabrics made from glass fibre are mainly used as reinforcement material in the construction sector in applications such as external thermal insulation, floor reinforcement, and wall repair. The open mesh fabric industry plays a significant role in developing new applications and improving technologies that enhance the performance of insulation materials, which is in turn crucial to the achievement of the EU’s climate targets.

TECH-FAB Europe supports the sustainable development and economic growth of the European glass-based technical textiles industry, increases awareness of technical textiles applications and their contribution to the EU Green Deal objectives, and represents the industry in matters relating to fair trade, regulation and standardisation.
