TECH-FAB Europe has established a new Working Group to focus on the technical polyester textiles market sector.
Lieven Keymeulen, EMEA-APAC Market Director for Engineered Performance Products, Milliken & Company, has been elected as Chairman of the new Technical Polyester Working Group.
Through the new group European manufacturers of technical polyester fabrics used in industrial applications will work together to promote a sustainable future for the sector. Key actions will include monitoring global trends and European legislation and initiatives that could impact the industry and defining appropriate actions. Joining forces, group members will develop long-term strategies to address sustainability issues and support innovative projects that contribute to the European Green Deal’s objectives.
Technical polyester textiles include woven, knitted and laid polyester fabrics used as end-products or substrate or reinforcement for other products. They are used in applications such as single ply roofing, pool liners, adhesive tape etc.
“Our broad range of technical polyester fabrics are crucial to bring strength, stability and durability to the end products,” states Lieven Keymeulen. “The new group will also allow us to join forces to develop a sustainable environment, including fair competition on the EU market, and foster conditions that enhance European competitiveness.”
The Technical Polyester Working Group, called TECH-PES, joins TECH-FAB Europe’s five existing Working Groups on Sustainability, Communication, High Thermal Insulation, Open Mesh Fabrics, and Composites. It could also join TECH-FAB Europe’s new project to develop life cycle assessments (LCAs) of key technical textiles product families. This was recently launched with the Composites and Open Mesh Fabrics Working Groups.
“We are delighted to welcome this new Working Group, including new company members like Milliken, Delcotex and Sioen Group,” says Agusti Porta, President of Tech-Fab Europe. “They share the same vision and need for the development of the industrial technical textiles industry in Europe. This group also extends the scope of our association to the technical polyester segment and industrial fabrics. We will be honoured to welcome additional new members from this sector to join our forces.”
